After breakfast, enjoy the eight hour drive to Acadia National Park. If you make good time, you might enjoy one of the signature sunsets at Bar Harbor/Woodlands KOA campground.
A great way to see the interior of Acadia is to rent bikes and meander on the carriage roads. They have crushed rock surfaces perfect for bicycling. With any luck, you’ll arrive at the Jordan Pond House right at lunch time. Enjoy some popovers and jam while you search the menu.
Today is a good day for a horse-drawn carriage ride, a kayaking adventure, a trolley ride up Cadillac Mountain, or a high-tide visit to Thunder Hole. And since a Maine visit isn’t complete without lobster, head into Bar Harbor for a bite at Galyn’s followed by dessert at Mount Desert Island Ice Cream.
You spent a lot of time looking at water yesterday, so today is a chance to get in it. Enjoy a cruise aboard a Maine Windjammer. Then enjoy one last evening in Maine by picking up some groceries and relaxing around your campsite.
It’s OK to cry as you say goodbye to your Mainer friends. You’ll want to end this day within an hour or two of our office, so set your sights on a campground in New York State. Perhaps Interlake RV Park in Rhinebeck, NY. Other options include Rip Van Winkle Campground in Saugerties or Jellystone Park at Birchwood Acres. You could also rough it a bit and just find a rest stop off the highway.
Rise and shine. After cooking some eggs on the stove, it’s time to head home. We’ll greet you when your return for your 10am drop-off.
